The Doctrine of the Mean names the path in its first lines and then says this of it. If it could be left, the next sentence runs, it would not be the path.

The line
The line comes from the Doctrine of the Mean, in James Legge's translation in The Chinese Classics (1893), a text of the Confucian tradition.
The words appear exactly as that translation gives them. The translation is in the public domain, and the text itself is in The Sacred Act’s library.
Materials
- 100% US-grown cotton
- 7.5 oz/yd² (254 g/m²)
- Garment-dyed and pre-shrunk
- Printed on the upper back with water-based ink
Fit
The cut is boxy and oversized, with dropped shoulders. Take your usual size for the intended drape, or one size down for a closer fit.
Care
- Wash cold, inside out, with like colours.
- Tumble dry low or hang to dry.
- Do not iron over the print.
Shipping and returns
Your piece is made when you order it and ships within 2 to 7 business days, and embroidered pieces take the longer end of that. Delivery takes 5 to 12 business days in the United States, where shipping is complimentary, and 8 to 25 elsewhere, for a flat $20.
Because each piece is made for you, we cannot take back a piece for a change of mind or size. If yours arrives flawed or damaged, write to support@thesacredact.com within 30 days with a photograph, and we will replace it at no cost. Read the full policy.
